Surface Masks

Data shortcuts are a great tool.  Recently I had an issue with a large surface I had a data shortcut link to though.  The surface was very large and I wanted to reduce its size for a quicker regen time.  Unfortunately, the boundary command does not work with data shortcut surfaces.  To get around the surface mask command.
 
Here is my surface before adding a surface mask:
 
 
Go into toolspace/prospector, expand the surface you want to mask.  Right click on Masks.  Select "Create Mask...".
 
 
 
 
Select a polyline you have drawn that will serve as your new surface mask (boundary).
 
 
The only default setting I changed is the name:
